About Us

Hello, I'm Sandra — welcome to Sandra's Sewing & Alterations

I started learning to sew as a small child, taught by my grandmother. Sewing has always been a passion for me. I moved to Knighton about 12 years ago and started Sandra's Sewing and Alterations as a way to follow my passion. I have a love for quality fabrics and all the gadgets and gismo's that go with sewing, hence I filled the shop with them. Karen joined me a few years ago on a part time basis, now we are always busy and generally laughing about something. You'll always get a warm welcome.

Alterations & Repairs

Whether you need a hem taken up, a zip replaced, a garment taken in, or a beloved piece of clothing brought back to life, We're here to help. We offer a friendly, professional alterations and repairs service with a personal touch, every item is treated with the care it deserves. Local customers are welcome to visit me in Knighton. Appointments are generally not required ,except for during the summer when we get very busy.

Premium Fabrics, Carefully Chosen

My online shop is stocked with fabrics I genuinely love and trust. You'll find a wide selection of Liberty Fabrics Tana Lawn, renowned the world over for its fine quality and exquisite prints. Makower & Andover cottons, reliable and beautiful for quilting and dressmaking and Moda quilting cottons, a favourite among quilters for their consistent quality and stunning colour palettes.

Every fabric in the shop has been chosen because of its quality and design, and I'd happily sew with it myself, so you can shop with confidence.

Based in Knighton, Serving the UK

Knighton (Tref-y-Clawdd) sits on the Welsh–English border, surrounded by the beautiful countryside of Powys and the Shropshire Hills. I love being part of this community and welcome local customers to get in touch directly. If you're passing through, do say hello!

For online customers across the UK, I aim to despatch orders promptly and pack everything carefully so your fabrics arrive in perfect condition.
